Mike Stafford wins on points

Mike Stafford’s professional boxing stats now stand at 4-0 after winning on points against tough fighting journeyman, Paul Bonson at Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan, on Saturday night 7th June 2008. The contest was over 4x 3 min rounds, promoted by Wally Dixon in association with Mr. Pat Barrett `

Over 100 travelling fans made the short trip up the M57 to see the fight.

Mike had to be mettle against the former Rugby League star who has been in with a who’s who of the heavier divisions.

During the contest Mike had to encounter 4 low blows with the referee allowing Mike a 10 second time out to recover towards the end of round 3.

Bonson made it awkward for Stafford by holding on throughout the fight whilst under pressure. This showed why the journeyman has never been KO in over 100 fights.
